Associate Professor Gillian Vesty
School of Accounting
Gillian is an Associate Professor in the School of Accounting, RMIT University. Gillian’s teaching and research interests broadly encompass aspects of ‘social and environmental health and wellbeing’ with a focus on qualitative field research in management accounting and performance measurement in sustainability and public health. Gillian’s background career in the healthcare industry has fostered her research interest and passion to embed field-based research into rich case studies for advancing knowledge. This work is underpinned by the sociology of accounting and concept of value. Gillian has published in journals including Accounting, Auditing and Accountability Journal, Journal of Accounting and Finance, Issues in Accounting Education, Journal of Accounting and Finance, and Research in the Sociology of Organizations Journal. She has received grants from the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA, US), International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), HRH Prince of Wales Accounting for Sustainability Project (A4S) and CPA Australia Global Research Funds, resulting in several publications and CPA Australia reports on capital investment and sustainability. This work draws attention to the importance of translating sustainability impacts in organisational practices.
