Emma Luke is a designer, maker and researcher working at the intersection of industrial design, jewellery and HCI. With a background in watches, bags and contemporary jewellery, Emma has worked in global brands and her own labels exhibiting her work at Melbourne Fashion Week, Paris Fashion Week and in Vogue Magazine.

Central to Emma’s creative practice is a passion for designing elegant wearables that explore the encoding of lasting value through data, materiality, aesthetics and personalisation.

A current PhD candidate in the RMIT School of Design Emma is engaged in a series of collaborative design research projects; CaT pin, a wearable to detect loneliness (Telstra Designing for Ageing Well Challenge Winner 2018), Drone Chi (Tai Chi inspired human- drone interaction experience for somaesthetic and bodily awareness). Her research explores a holistic approach to wearable technology interventions for health and wellbeing.

A designer and educator for over 17 years Emma has taught product design, service design, jewellery and wearable technology across multiple institutions. A lecturer in the Industrial Design program at RMIT she currently teaches into the Industrial Design Honours and Master of Design Innovation and Technology programs.
